Wine-based aperitif with strong flavour of spices, black tea and herbs. Exotic notes of anise, cloves and tea in the taste, herbal and winy aftertaste. Nice neat at winter or in cocktails, in Americano instead of Campari, for example.
Ingredients.
- A bottle of dry rose wine (700-750 ml),
- Vodka – 100-150 ml,
- Simple syrup – 100-150 ml,
- Black tea (not teabags, good Ceylon tea preferred) – 2 tsp,
- Anise – 2-3 pods,
- Cardamom – 3-4 pods,
- Cloves 3-4 pcs,
- Angelica root – ½ tsp,
- Wormwood – ½ tsp,
- Chamomile – 1 tsp,
- Sage – 1 tsp,
- Fresh zest from ½ orange.
Pour boiling water over tea, spices and herbs for a second in a mug. Then pour out water and add wine to cover the solids.
In a jar with tight lid, mix vodka, syrup and remaining wine. Add orange zest. Then add tea, herbs and spices with wine from a mug. Close tightly and let steep in dark cool place for one week. Shake every day.
Strain liquid throuh cheese cloth. Then add more sugar and vodka to taste, if required.
Bottle and keep in refrigerator.
